Just recently, The C.A.R.E. Group took a monumental step in our mission to spread awareness and educate others about our cause. On May 31st, we hosted our very first awareness event at Bellworks: the C.A.R.E. Cancer Awareness Event.
The event was held in honor of National Cancer Research Month, which takes place every May. It had been in the works for a long time, and thanks to the support of our generous sponsors and partners, we were able to make this vision a reality.
We featured many nonprofits throughout the event, including G’s Giving Gowns, Live Like a Unicorn, and Health Hope Initiative, who each shared more about their missions and the important work they do.
We also welcomed two incredible guest speakers.
Mrs. Gray, a physical therapist and nurse, spoke about the effects of oncology rehabilitation using physical therapy.
Dr. Asnani, an endocrinologist, shared insights about his work and how it relates to cancer.
Our presentations taught students in grades 5 and up all about cancer, focusing on five specific types: skin cancer, brain cancer, leukemia, lung cancer, and bone cancer. To make the experience engaging and memorable, we included interactive activities, group games, snacks, and fun prizes.
One of the most impactful parts of the event was our Anti-Vaping Poster Contest. Many attendees brought in original posters with anti-vaping messages to raise awareness about the link between vaping and lung cancer. The posters reflected creativity, critical thinking, and a strong commitment to making a difference. Jersey Freeze donated gift cards that were awarded to the winners.
We had around 40 attendees, and the event was a true success. We are so proud of what we accomplished.
Special thanks to our generous donors:
Bellworks, for donating the venue at no cost. Your support truly helped us further our mission.
Salon Concrete, Exclusive Cuts, and Jersey Freeze, for donating gift cards that were used for our raffles and contest prizes.
This was The C.A.R.E. Group’s first awareness event, and it was only the beginning. We are so excited for the many more events to come and are so grateful for the hard work and effort of everyone who contributed.
